World’s Largest Cricket Stadium Getting Built in Ahmedabad
World’s largest Cricket Stadium getting built in Ahmedabad which will have the capacity of 1.1 lakh. The Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad also known as Motera Stadium. Currently the Melbourne Cricket Ground is the world’s largest cricket stadium with a total capacity of 100,024 while Kolkata’s Eden Garden is at no. 2 with a total capacity of 66,000.
The World’s Largest Cricket Stadium is under construction at Motera in Ahmedabad, India. According to News 18, the foundation stone of the new stadium was laid in January 2018. GCA handed the project to Larson and Toubro. While the renowned architecture firm M/s Populous was given the charge for designing the stadium. And this is the same firm that had designed the Melbourne Stadium.
The Project estimated cost is 700 Crore. The New Stadium will be spread over 63 acres of land included club house with over 50 rooms, 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, three practice grounds for cricketers, an Olympic size swimming pool, an indoor cricket training academy, a parking area that can accommodate about 3,000 four-wheeler cars and upto 10,000 two-wheelers and more.
The project is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream. Not many cricketer fans were able to see their star live in the stadium since it previously accommodate 54,000 people.
When the new stadium comes up, Gujarat will hold two world records, first was world’s largest Statue, the 182 metres Statue of Unity. Which now attracts 30,000 people Everyday and Second will be the Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium also known as Motera Stadium.
