Chandrayaan 2: we got the image of Vikram Lander but yet to establish the connection with Lander says K Sivan, Chairman of ISRO. ISRO has managed to locate Vikram, the Chandrayaan 2 lander, on moon’s surface a day after losing contact with the craft.

However ISRO is yet to establish contact with Vikram: space agency lost communication with the lander just 2.1km above the lunar surface near the south pole of the moon on saturday. ISRO has been identify the lander Vikram, but the condition of the lander yet to be ascertained.

On Sunday ISRO was confirmed that Vikram did land on Moon’s surface. ISRO will investigate several factors to determine what happened with the connection lost.

The failure analysis committee (FAC) is looking into what may have exactly caused Vikram’s disorientation. But initial indications, scientists told TOI point to a possible over performance of the thrust or a more than optimal horizontal velocity that could have caused the lander to spin out of control.
